Lynch comes out on top at Prehen

The high handicap brigade took the top two places this week in the Thursday Open at City of Derry.

Peter Lynch (24) had four shots ahead of the field after he finished with 42 points, with in form Billy Acheson (24) in second place after a break of tie finish and the consistent Fred Young (8) in third spot after they both scored 38 points.

Aaron Taylor, playing off a two handicap, was the winner of the gross section, in very difficult conditions with 34 points.

The final competition of the season, The Ted Pope Trophy will take place on Thursday, April 24.

Entry to the competition will cost £3. Presentation will take place at 6.30pm.

There will be a Hot Buffet and Salad Bar available in the clubhouse at 6.30pm, the cost will be partially subsidised by the society.

Please place your name on the sheets available in Professional Shop and Locker Room if attending the meal, cost to members is £5.

Meanwhile North-West Thursday Society will stage a special Easter Scramble tomorrow (April 17th) at Lisfannon. The teams of four event will tee-off at the usual time.

While Danny McGeehan took top honours from the Thursday Society outing which was played on April 3rd, his score of 40 points giving him a one point cushion on the chasing pack. John McGinley with 39 points was second and Dudley Coyle with 38 points was third.

The next Phoenix Golf Society outing takes place at Greencastle on April 26th.
