Mary takes the honours at Past Lady Captains’ Day at Portstewart GC

On Monday 1st July, 16 past Lady Captains gathered at Portstewart golf club to play golf and enjoy an evening meal together.

The overall winner of the golf was the immediate past Captain Mary Glover, playing off nine with 34 points. Noeleen Donnelly was runner up with 33 points over Sheelagh Duffy who was third, also with 33 points.

The front nine was won by Celine Harley and the back nine was won by Winnifred Balmer. Thank you Mary for organising this very enjoyable day; lots of memories of the ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ of being Lady Captain of such a prestigious club were recounted during the evening get together.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday 3 July, over 80 ladies played in Summer Bumper Day at Portstewart Golf Club and later enjoyed refreshments in the Spike Bar. Lady Captain Mo Giffin presented the overall prize to Rosie King playing off 17 with 37 points. Brenda Strain won the gross prize with 23 gross points and Lynne Gibb was runner up, also with 37 points. Gillian McMullan was third with 36 points.

The front nine was won by Jean Robinson with 21 points and Patricia Joyce won the back nine with 18 points. The longest drives were won by Christine Donaghy and Gillian McMullan and nearest the pins were won by Jennifer Mullan and Lynne McCartney.

The Riverside 9 holes competition was won by Liz Ward with 17 points and runner up was Jill Nicholl. The nearest the pin was won by Heather Moore and the longest drive was Eleanor McLaughlin.
