McBride’s Captain’s Day

CITY of Derry Lady Captain Mrs Betty McBride will be staging her Captain’s Day on Friday; members wishing to play should add their name to the sheet in the ladies’ locker room. It is hoped there will be a good turnout for this special day.

The North West League team play the second leg of their match against Roe Park at home today (Wednesday); the team includes Marie Clifford, Rita O’Kane, Christine Mitchell, Kathleen Desmond and Lesley Mulgrew.

It has been another busy time for the ladies of City of Derry Golf Club and in particular for the Lady Captain.

While playing at an Open at Dunfanaghy, at the ninth par 3 and into a strong headwind, Betty hit a perfect five iron to record her first ‘hole in one’ - congratulations!

On Saturday and Sunday she played in the Billy Henderson Pro-Am at Prehen and on Tuesday she came third in the July Par.

The course was in excellent condition and the very consistent Maire McReynolds was first in the Par competition while Christine Mitchell was second.
