McClintock wins Faughan Valley Captain’s Day title

Faughan Valley vice-Captain, Frank McClintock (12), emerged the winner of Mr Robert Curry’s captain prize last weekend, he returned the top score of 44 points.

With the presentation taking place in the White Horse Hotel, the day and evening function was well supported by club members and visitors from neighbouring clubs.

In the ladies competition, which was played over 12 holes, results were - 1, Loren Smallwoods (14) 25; 2, Celine McIvor (35) 24; longest drive, Nadine Lynch; nearest the pin, Loren Smallwoods; Clubman of the Year Trophy deservedly went to John Huw Cleghorn.

Captain, Mr Robert Curry, extended his thanks to all who made the event so successful.

He paid a special tribute to his family and friends who had supported him by providing refreshments throughout the day from dawn until dusk.

Thanks for the excellent food provided and words of encouragement were a welcome relief to the weary golfers as they passed the 12th hole!

Robert also acknowledged the superb efforts of the Faughan Valley green-keeping staff who worked tirelessly during the month to ensure that the course was in such pristine condition for his ‘big day’.

The club’s Lady Captain Marion Sayers will be holding a Charity Open, with Marie Curie her chosen charity, on Saturday, September 6.
