McEleney wins at frosty Foyle

Foyle Sunday Society held their tenth outing of the season on Sunday, with the competitors enjoying a decent day after the frost delayed star.

Paul McEleney (12) made full use of the favorable conditions to produce an exceptional round just failing with his birdie put at the last for a level par round, but his one over par gave him a winning total of 47 points.

Second placed went to Martin Loughrey (11) who finished with 44 points with John Jennings (10) on 41 points was third.

The Annual Pitchers Spring League gets underway at Foyle on Saturday, January 11, 2014, with the team’s of four competition having two best scores to count at each hole and six best cards to count from ten with a 3/4 handicap allowance format, and the qualifying will continue until Sunday, March 23, where the top eight Qualifiers will play in the Match play stage of the league in a Barton Shield format.

The 2014 Easter Egg Competitions get underway at Foyle on Saturday and will continue daily until Sunday, March 23rd, with the following Categories in operation + - 7 / 8 - 12 / 13 - 17 and 18 + with the best score on either 9 winning a £40 Golf Store Europe Voucher.

Meanwhile City of Derry Golf Club’s Thursday Society resumes tomorrow (Thursday).

Congratulations to Robin McClay who achieved a unique feat in winning both the Jim Bresland and Harry Bryson trophies this year.

McClay now leads Golfer of the Year at Prehen.
