Some slots are still available so if you want to play put your name down (anywhere on the list) that is on the noticeboard.

A good start is half the battle but George Jackson (11) made nonsense of that old adage in winning the open stableford at City of Derry on Sunday with a magnificent 44 points that started with a blank on the very first hole.

Despite that setback he still managed a creditable 20 points on the first nine and then proceeded to birdie two holes on the back nine to add a further 24 points for an unbeatable winning score.

Phillip Greer (10) played well to finish second on 40 points, a single point ahead of immediate past captain Michael McCullough who was best of a trio on 39 points, a vital 23 of them coming on the back nine.

A flawless three under on the front nine was followed by a level par second nine to give the well known Logue family member the round of his life.

No less than five players were tied on 40 points and the count back went in favour of Jordan Greer (23), Jordan Dunn (10) and Ron Grieve (16) for second, third and fourth in that order respectively.

While Maurice Quigg (20) took first place in this annual competition with 27 points over 13 holes and he was followed home by the club secretary Andy Meenagh (14) on 25 points.
