McKinstry wins first round of Irish Universities Golf
Cairndhu Golf Club’s Neil McKinstry won the opening round of the Irish Universities Golf at County Sligo this week.
The University of Ulster student topped a formidable field of competitors from throughout Ireland when he shot two-over in extremely challenging weather conditions last Thursday (November 13).
It’s a superb achievement for McKinstry who has just come back after a year out, following a back injury, after he fractured his vertebrae.
He finished one point better off than Conor Stone and Ronan Mullarney (both Maynooth University), with Colm Hughes (NUI Galway) another point behind.
