McLEAN TROPHY WIN FOR BUSHFOOT’S GARY

The James McLean Memorial Trophy was contested at Bushfoot Golf Club at the weekend with Gary Bones coming out on top with his score of 43 points from his sixteen handicap.

A nice two early on, the second, and some steady golf after this eased Gary to 20 points for the first half. He dropped just four shots second time round and this added 23 to the card for 43 overall.

Second spot with 42 was occupied by John Creighton, a fifteen handicapper. John had just the single birdie, a three at the third, while gathering 22 points out. His six at seventeen was to prove costly as he ended the nine with 20 points for a total of 42, just one behind the winner. Third place was taken by Noel Moore with 37 points.

Noel had a remarkable 24 points from the opening nine but the dreaded blanks set in coming back and restricted him to 17 for his tally of 37.
