Medal win for Mills at Carrick Golf Club

DICKSIE Mills carded a score of 63 nett to win the Monthly Medal competition held at Carrickfergus Golf Club on Saturday.

Low handicap winners were Simon Wady (64 nett)) and Jonathan McClean, Jai Johnston and Willie Johnston, all of whom scored 67 nett. High handicap winners were Richard Leathem (66 nett), Richard Pedlow (67 nett), Ken Heron (67 nett) and Henry Hunter (68 nett). Stephen Rea won the Gross Prize with a score of 72 and Brian Scoffield the Super Seniors with 40 points.

In the Open Juniors Stableford competition on Friday, Jason Ewart emerged as the winner with 43 points, followed by Richard McClean (42 points), Ryan McCrory (42 points), Ross Jamison (40 points) and Ryan McNamara (40 points). Andrew Dillon won the Gross Prize with a two-over-par return and A. Law (Whitehead) took the Visitors’ Prize with 34 points.

In the Fred Daly Plate second-round match, Carrickfergus lost out against Whitehead and everyone at North Road wishes them well at the next stage. Congratulations also go to Cairndhu on winning the Fred Daly competition - junior golf is certainly on a high in East Antrim.
