Mel wins the medal with a 64
Mel Carleton recorded the best score of the weekend at Ballycastle Golf Club on his way to securing top spot in Saturday’s Medal competition with a nett 64.
Playing off five, Mel had five birdies in his sub-par round of 69 but still only won on count-back as nineteen handicapper Michael Shirley also produced a superb nett 64 in the blustery morning conditions. The section one prize in the Medal went to Seamus Killough just ahead of John Boyd on the back nine after both men scored nett 68’s. James Morgan won section two with a nett 70.
