Michael Polls it out of the hat to take the win with a brilliant back nine

A brilliant back nine secured the win for Michael Pollins (10) at Lambeg Golf Club on Saturday.

His closing nine holes included which included seven consecutive pars and a birdie and was enough to earn victory in the stableford competition sponsored by Lisburn Fuels.

With two double bogeys in his front nine, Michael was not confident of a winning score even though he had a birdie at the seventh but it was his performance in the back nine that accumulated the points, reaching the winning total of 44 points by the close.

Jim Robinson (23) took second place with 43 points after a bit of a topsy-turvy round which included everything from no scores to a birdie. He made the shots at the holes that counted and finished with a very impressive 43 points.

Third place was taken by John Paul McGeough (16) with 42 points. John Paul hit five pars in his front nine but no scores at two and seven were spoilers. He steadied his game for the back nine and scored high with a further six pars. John Oakes won Best Gross with 70.
