Michael win firstmajor of season

First place went to Michael Millar with 43 points. Michael made a great start to his round with a level par front nine, with two birdies and two bogeys and five pars. His back nine started with four straight pars but slowed up somewhat with just one par in the last five holes, three bogeys a one double bogey but this was still good enough to win by two clear points.

In second place was Patrick McKeown with 41 points. He had a front nine of 17 points with four pars, and five bogeys, but keep his best golf for the back nine going round in one under par with three birdies at the 11th 13th and 18th holes, two bogeys and four pars for an excellent 24 points.

In third place again with 41 points was Dessie O’Hara, who had 18 points on the front with the highlight being a birdie at the 2nd , three pars, four bogeys and a no score. His back nine was a lot better with one birdie at the 13th hole, five pars and three bogeys for 23 points and his total of 41 points.

The gross prize was picked up by Thomas Smyth with the best score of the day a one over gross 73. Thomas had a front nine of 37 with one birdie at the 2nd hole, five pars, and three bogeys, his back nine of one under was compiled with seven pars, one bogey and an brilliant eagle at the 18th hole to win him this week’s first gross prize.

Fourth prize was collected by Chris Lamont (jun) with 40 points. He had 20 points on his front nine which included four pars, three double bogeys, and two single bogeys, his back nine contained three pars, three bogeys and three double bogeys.

Fifth was Alan Beattie with 39 point’s, he had 16 points on his front nine and 23 points on his back nine.

The second gross prize was won by Fintan McAreavey with a gross 74. Fintan had a front nine of 36 with one birdie, two bogeys and 6 pars and his back nine was a copy of his front nine with the exact same scores for a 38 back nine.

The senior prize was picked up by Joseph Toland with 40 points.

The front nine prize was collected by Raymond Loney with 23 points. The back nine prize was won by Stephen Thompson with 21 points.

The junior prize was won by Jack Doyle with 40 points.

This week’s competition is the Billy Blacker memorial.

Sunday see’s the club hosting the Pierce Purcell qualifying competition and members are urged to come down and help the club in any way they can, so the competition can run smoothly.
