Mother and daughter dominate things at Foyle

AVRIL Gallagher hosted a fine and successful Lady President's Day on Saturday June 19 for Foyle Ladies Golf.

Lady Captain Anne Hamilton (15) took the top spot with a score of 44 points, as her daughter Sarah (26) followed closely with 40 points and Ann Fulton (27) took third with 36 points.

Faye McGrotty won the Gross with 22 Gross points, the winner over the front nine was Florence Rankin (24) on 23 points and Gaye Shaw scored highest on the Back nine with 20 points. The highest placed visitor was Margaret Andrews (28) from Ballyliffin with 34 points. Lorna Thompson (19) took the Committee Prize with 35 points, Nicky Fallon (33) took the Non-Qualifier with 36 points and Ann Fulton was Nearest the Pin.

On Thursday June 17 the Foyle Ladies played the qualifying of the Australian Spoons and Daisy Ferguson competitions in an effort to secure themselves a trip to Royal Co. Down or Newtownstewart for the Regional finals.

The duo of Maureen Sheerin and Monica Mohan lived up to their reputation by returning a fine 44 points, to represent the Club for the umpteenth time in these popular greensomes events.

Maureen McConalogue, partnered with new member Irene Cosgrove, gave them a run for their money - one point adrift on 43 pts - followed in 3rd spot by Anne and Sarah Hamilton with 39.

Tomorrow the Margaret Miller trophy and Monthly Medal takes place with ususal draws at 10, 12, 3, and 5.30 while on Saturday and Sunday Foyle Men's Club invite all lady members and visitors to compete in their 'Total Golf' Open Competition.
