NE Golfing Alliance at Royal Portrush

On a very cold day over the eighteen holes of the Dunluce Links of Royal Portrush Golf Club some 76 golfers vied for the day’s honours.

Castlerock’s John Ferris was the one to come out on top by scoring 38 points from his Alliance handicap of four.

Ten handicapper Gilbert Fallows, also from the Castlerock club, was hot on John’s tail compiling a round of 37 points, in fact the top six scores of the event were scored by Castlerock stalwarts! Jack Allen and Lee Robinson had 36s to their name for third and fourth places while Ivan Tennant and Tommy Allen scored 35 each to get fifth and sixth prizes on countback from Billy Cameron and J McClements. Other places were taken by E Carson and Paul Cooley, both 34 points, and S Smyth and Matt McAllister both on 34 points.

Sadly for Craig Wisener it was proven that you should always enter the twos. The short twelfth hole gave Craig a hole in one but the big man hadn’t joined in. Still an achievement Craig, well done!

The next meet will be Jim O’Rorke’s Captain’s Day at Castlerock GC on April 11th when the Castlerock club will ensure more amenable weather conditions.
