Neil becomes youngest Club Championship winner

Neil McKinstry became the youngest player ever to win the two-day Club Championship at Cairndhu Golf Club, shooting rounds of 70 and 69 to take the title.

The competition, recognised as the club’s biggest tournament for its members, saw the 15-year-old fight off stiff competition from older brother Ryan - current Leinster Boys’ and Ulster Youth Champion - to win by two shots on the second day.

Neil has also just been selected to play for Ireland against England at Portmarnock on October 8 and 9, highlighting a great year in which he has got his handicap down to one.
