New captain’s are elected at the Rockmount Golf Club AGM

Rockmount Ladies and Gents Clubs held their respective Annual General Meetings on Wednesday November 27.

Outgoing Gents Captain, Mr Glenn Willis opened the Gents meeting and completed his report for his Captaincy year. He highlighted the improved performances of teams, the support from the committee and the Ulster Branch GUI Centenary functions as being part of his memories for his year; as well as the Darren Clarke Charity event at Rockmount in September.

Following the Secretary’s report, the Treasurer’s report and the Competition Secretaries report; Glenn then introduced the new Captain Mr Paul Banford and presented him with his Captain’s blazer. New Captain Paul Banford thanked Glenn and congratulated him on what had been an exceptionally good year for him.

The new Vice Captain was then introduced Mr Eddie Donaldson along with the new Junior Captain, Master Conor Montgomery. John Hinds and Peter O’Hara were elected onto general committee. The other committee members staying in office were: Alan McClune Honorary Secretary, John Cahoon Honorary Treasurer, Frank Wallace Honorary Competition Secretary and general committee members Colin McNeill and Peter Rountree.

The Ladies Annual General meeting was conducted in a similar manner with Janet Douds the new Lady Captain taking over from Noeleen Houston and Margaret Harrison the new Lady Vice Captain. Margaret Harrison relinquishes her Honorary Secretary role to Anne McShane, Carol Blythe and Daphne Beggs remain as Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Competition Secretary respectively. The other Lady Committee members are Jan Lindsay, Andria Watson and Patricia McDonnell.

Saturday morning November 30 was a fresh morning with a chill in the air for week six of the 2013/2014 Andrew Annett Winter League competition. Two players amassed 30 points; Russell McDonald (07) beat Brendan Houston (13) on count back. Similarly two players scored 29 points; in third place was Kevin Cushnan (11) and in fourth place was Robert Burns (14), in fifth place with 28 points was Simon Gray (06). The gross prize went to Jeff Lamb (03); Jeff played the twelve holes in 54 or four over par. All will receive Paul Banford & Sons Butchers, Turkey Vouchers.
