New leaders at Foyle

THE Desmond Motors Winter League at Foyle has now reached half way in the qualifying stage with five cards returned and Team 21 of Joe Doran, Matt Donnell, Ciaran O’Hagan and Leo Young having accumulated 487 points take a three point lead into the second half of the qualifying with card four leaders Team 3 of Ciaran Gillen, Scott Kennedy, John Morrison and Ryan Gillen in second place with 484 points.

Third at the minute is Team 24 of Mark Doherty, Jim McFadden, Ciaran O’Doherty and Dermott Harkin with 481 points. In the ladies section Team 13 of Agnes McLaughlin, Sheila McLaughlin and Florence Rankin are leading the way with 230 points, second are Team 5 of Anne Hamilton, Margaret Killen and Christine McCafferty with 230 points and Team 20 of Myra Gough, Lorna Thompson and Maureen Louden with 228 points are in third spot at the minute.

While Foyle Sunday Soceties fifth outing again saw an excellent turnout on a decent day with Sunday Society stalwart Hugh Doherty (13) taking top spot on the winners podium with an excellent score of 43 points four points clear of second placed Stephen Martin (1) who returned a fine round of two under par for his 39 points and second place after a break of tie with third placed Neil Cooke (12).

The turkey competitions were won by Gary Jackson, Jim McFadden, Jason Cleere and Sadie O’Kane.

The Annual Christmas Hamper competition will take place at Foyle on Sunday, November 25 and all members playing are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop on or before Monday, November 19, when the draw for playing partners will take place.

The Desmond Motors Winter League and turkey competitions continues daily, while Foyle Sunday Society takes centre stage at the weekend and all club members are welcome to play but they are reminded to book their own Tee Time.
