O’Brien successful after close finish

THE Open stableford competition sponsored by Spectrum Business Solutions at Faughan Valley was won after a break of tie by Willie O’Brien (21) James Lindsay (3) also scored 38 points to finish second and Neal Black (15) with 38 points was third. The Front nine went to Ryan Cooke and Alan Cheung won the back nine, while the Gross winner was Barney O’Connor.

The club Championship sponsored by Mr David Forbes is on the notice board, names should be entered as soon as possible as draws will take place shortly, while the club Singles and Doubles sponsored by City of Derry Building Society are now on the club notice board. Anyone wishing to enter should put their names on the appropriate sheet.

On Saturday, May 27th the Captain’s Charity open day in aid of Cancer Focus N.I. takes centre stage, their will be a time sheet in operation.

Meanwhile the winner of the ladies competition played on Wednesday, May 1, was Marion Sayers (24) with 37 points and second went to Ann McGoldrick after she finished with 35 points.

The ladies club are hosting an open stapleford competition at the club on Saturday and there is a full complement of prizes for both men and ladies.
