Olivia will be hoping to benefit from some home advantage as the tournament, taking place over Friday and Saturday, will be played at Malone Golf Club.

The Vagliano Trophy was first played for back in 1931 and took its current format in 1959. It has been played for biennially ever since and the GB and Ireland team are looking to win the tournament for the first time since 2005.

Helping the team to get that much sought-after victory would be another feather in the cap of the local girl who has her eyes set on becoming Ireland’s next golfing superstar.

Mehaffey has also climbed the European rankings to sit second in the Junior Solheim leaderboard thanks to a semi-final place at the recent Ladies’ British Open Amateur Championship.

Representing the Great Britain & Ireland team with Olivia is world number one Leona Maguire, Gemma Clews, Hayley Davis, Alice Hewson, Bronte Law, Meghan MacLaren, Charlotte Thomas and Chloe Williams.

Admission and car-parking at the tournament is free.
