Carrickfergus GC: Brian Scoffield won the Dobbs Cup at Carrickfergus Golf Club on Saturday (June 13) with an excellent nett score of 65.

Low handicap winners were Michael Addley (nett 66), Gary Robinson (nett 67) and Roy Jamison, Mike Walker and Harry Wade (all nett 68).

High handicap winners were Paul Walker (nett 66), Paul Davidson (nett 67), Gary Brown (nett 67), Roy Bennett (nett 68) and Maurice Finlay (nett 68).

Gary Barbour (73) won the Gross Prize and he was among the Nearest the Pin winners along with Henry Hunter, B. Milligan, Roy Jamison and Rab Wilkinson.

Carrick’s Barton Shield team of Jim McIlwaine and Andrew Dillon won their matches against Greenisland and Galgorm to book their spot in the semi-finals.

Cairndhu GC (Ladies’ Section): Playing in perfect conditions, Cairndhu’s lady golfers enjoyed a fabulous day playing for Club Captain, Danny McMullan’s prizes (June 11). They could not help but admire the spectacular views of the Antrim coastline as they battled to produce some excellent scores.

Cathy Keown won the overall prize with a brilliant 40 points. Maria Raven came second with 36. Gail McCluggage bagged the gross prize with 38 points, and Mary McKnight produced a creditable 35 points.

Meanwhile, Christine Lester, playing off an eight handicap, won the P & O Trophy - a competition which has been generously sponsored for the last 25 years.

Ballyclare GC: In the Jimmy Carroll Trophy, Ballyclare beat Ballymena by one shot at Fortwilliam Golf Club on Thursday (June 11)to reach the Ulster final.

The Ulster Fourball team defeated St Patrick’s Golf Club (Downpatrick) on Saturday (June 13) and they will now play Rockmount Golf Club in the next round.

Ladies’ Section results: Montgomery Cup (Stableford, June 11) - 1. Anne Anderson, 36 points; 2. Claire Rawson 35 points; 3. Jane Harvey 34 points. Twos: Cheryl Donaldson (Hole 11).

Gilmer Cup (Stableford): 1. Shirley Fleming (36 pts); 2. Joy Wilkinson (36 pts); 3. Noreen Clendinning (36 pts).

Greenisland GC: Despite defeating North West GC 4.5 - 2.5 in the home leg of their Ulster Cup match, it was the Donegal men who progressed to the next stage of the competition on aggregate.
