O'Neill secures victory

FOYLE members turned out in force on Saturday last for Mr Rob Gallagher's President's Prize and the 190 plus competitors enjoyed superb conditions on a course which was presented in immaculate condition.

Top scoring proved the order of the day and it was 21 handicapper, Brian O'Neill, who claimed the top honour having returned an astounding score of 47 points to win with no less than five points to spare on his nearest rival.

Second after a break of tie finish was Steven O'Connor (28) who scored 42 points and Seamus O'Connor (18) with 42 points was third.

Meanwhile, the Ballyarnett course enjoyed another large field for the Crumley Construction Monthly Medal last Wednesday. Again, favourable conditions were enjoyed by all which combined for some exceptional scoring.

Damien McKenny returned to a scratch handicap after a remarkable eight under per round. Out in one under with birdies at the 7th and 8th holes, his only concession to par during the round coming at the 9th. However, his round took off on the way home with birdies at the 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th and 18th holes not to mention a superb "eagle" at the par five '14th for a truly remarkable round of golf.
