Paddy’s target remains unbeaten at Raceview

Early starter Paddy Kearney set the target for the day at Ballymena Golf CLub when the six-handicapper played the 18 holes in level par for a total of 42 points.

Commencing with a par, Paddy then dropped two shots on the apr three second and having birdied the sixth, he then shed another shot on the eighth, to be through the front nine in two over. The second nine made up for it where he scored seven pars plus two birdies for a two under second nine and a level par round.

Second place went to Keith Richmond (15) who opened his round with five pars, followed by four bogeys for 21 points. The second nine was quite a mixture with everything from a three to a six and he scored three pars, three bogeys, two double bogeys and a birdie at the 15th which was worth four of his 20 points on the second nine.

Charlie McCooke (13) was third nett with a total of 40 points and on a better last six holes from Wilton Simpson. McCooke scored six pars plus three bogeys on the outward nine for 21 points, to whic he added five pars plus two bogeys and he double bogeyed 11 and 14 en route to a further 19 points.

SImpson (24) had a trio of pars, bogeys and double bogeys in a front nine which yielded 21 points, while he scored seven bogeys plus two double bogeys for 19 points.

Fifth place was taken by Harry McGarry (10) who tied on 39 points with Adam Barr but Harry had a better second nine. McGarry scored 18 points over the first nine, despite a non-score on the par five third. His second nine was much better, however, with seven pars and two bogeys equating to 21 points.

Barr (6) was sixth nett after a front nine of seven pars and two bogeys for 19 points, whereeas his back nine of six pars, two bogeys and a biride at 13, was worth 20 points.

The best gross score came from Gary Black who, off a handicap of one, played the course in level par 68 shots.
