Each winner goes forward to a regional final representing his home club and the winner at Aberdelghy for Lambeg GC last Saturday was Paul Flanagan (17) with 43 points. Paul will go to Masserene Golf Club in Antrim for the next round.

Paul got off to a shaky start with a double bogey at the third but seven pars and a single bogey brought his total on the front nine to an impressive 23 pts. A brilliant birdie at the 11th was cancelled out with a triple bogey at the 15th but he managed to hold his nerve and come in with 20 points in the back nine.

Second place was taken by Jim McGrath (17) with 42 pts. A birdie at holes 6 and 8 erased the hurt of a triple bogey at the third and he made the turn with 21 pts in the bag. The only blip on the back nine was a double bogey at 15 but 3 pars helped him to another 21 pts.

John Leydon (25) got off to a terrible start, dropping shots at the first three holes but seven high scoring pars soon added to his total of 41 pts to take third place.

Alan Crockard (6) took the prize for Best Gross. Chris Brown (16) won the Wednesday hat with 37 pts.

There was disappointment in the Ulster Cup and the Ulster Four-ball, when both teams were knocked out of their respective competitions.
