Paula is the pick of Irish golfers in a great season

The ILGU Order of Merit sees players earn points for National and International tournaments played throughout the year and the trophy is awarded to the player who has gained the most points following the final tournament.

Paula had a very consistent year in which she travelled all over the world representing Ireland and the R&A.

In January, she finished in 15th place in the Portuguese Ladies Amateur and qualified for the match play stages in the Spanish Ladies Amateur.

In March, Paula scored her best ever round in the Royal County Down Scratch Salver with an eight under par score of 68. Following her university exams, she competed in the Irish Ladies Stroke Play in Cork, finishing in fourth place. She also narrowly missed qualification for the British Amateur Championship at Royal St George’s by one shot,

Paula finished in 44th place at the prestigious European Ladies Amateur Individual Championship in Estonia (the only Irish player to make the 54 hole cut).

The highlight of the year came in August in the British Ladies Stroke Play at Ashurnham in Wales when Paula finished in sixth place with a one over par score of 297 for the four rounds.

Following these successes, Paula was selected for the Irish ladies team which finished in 12th place in the European Ladies Amateur Championship held in Slovenia during July and a very creditable 33rd place in the World Amateur Team Championship held in Japan in September.

In January, Paula was again selected to represent Ireland at the South American Amateur Championships in Lima, Peru, and finished in 18th position.

Presenting the Order of Merit Trophy, Lady Captain Margaret Boyd said that Lisburn Golf Club were extremely proud of Paula and all her achievements to date and wished her continued success in the future.
