Peace wins Bank Holiday Open

BANK Holiday Monday was a successful day for Trevor Peace at Faughan Valley, as he claimed the open in near perfect conditions.

The 12 handicapper scored 39 points to claim first prize, second was A Campbell (21) who finished with 36 points and James Lindsay (4) with 33 points was third.

The open stableford competition at the weekend was secured by Lee O'Connor (9) after he scored 36 points, second after a break of tie finish and a point adrift was Raymond Simpson (24), while Syl Marshall (21) was third after he too finished with 35 points.

The PFS Seniors Open was claimed by John W Thompson (20) after he scored 44 points, second was Kevin Harkin (21) after he scored 40 points and James Duffy (20) with 38 points was third.

The Ladies mid-week open was claimed by Catherine O'Neill (20) after she scored 36 points, second was Denise Callan (22) after she finished with 35 points and Pearl Cowell (28) with 34 points was third.

The Fourball Matchplay competition has now reached the final with P Duffy and D Heaney coming up against P Miller and A Gault.

Duffy and Heaney defeated A Cheung and D Boyle in their semi-final tie, while Miller and Gault overcome Bernard Kelly and Gregory McGlinchey to book their spot in the final. The final is to take place before Saturday, September 18.

Martin Carlin has booked his place in the Singles Matchplay final, after defeating Trevor Peace in the semi-final and he awaits either Damien Boyle or Robert Curry in the final.

The prestigious Club Champion competition has reached the semi-final stage with John Kelly facing David Forbes and Bernard Kelly takes on Anthony Carlin in the other last four encounter.

This weekend sees the Keith Cameron Trophy takes centre stage on Saturday and there will be a time-sheet in operation, while on Sunday the weekly open stableford competition is down for decision.
