Peter is the winner at Dunmurry

The final competition of Dunmurry Open week was played on Saturday – The Oasis Open Stableford along with the Waterloo Cup and was dominated by single figure golfers.

The winner was Juvenile Captain, Peter Morgan playing off five, went round in two under par 68 for 43 points and was the clear winner by four points.

On the front nine Peter had pars at seven holes and birdies at the par three 7th plus and another at the par four 9th saw him collect 23 points on the front nine.

Dropped shots on the 11th and the 16th were cancelled out by birdies at the 13th and 17th for a level par back nine and 20 points and a total of 43 points.

Second place went to Graeme Whitley playing off eight, was a picture of consistency picking up seven pars and just dropping shots at the 5th and 9th on the front nine for 20 points.

Graeme did not start the back well dropping three shots in the first three holes but pars all the way home saw him and record 19 points, and he lifted second prize due to his better last six holes.

Third place went three handicapper Michael Dickson who went round in level par 70 – he got off to a great start with a birdie three at the first and the only blemish on his round was a bogey at the 6th – the rest of his round he recorded pars for 39 points.

Fourth place went to Adam Spence (13) who also got off to a great start with a birdie three at the 1st and 21 points on the front nine. A poor finish was to prove costly for Adam as he only scored seven points over the last five holes.

The gross prize was won by Stephen Crowe (+3) who went round in five under par 65. Stephen recorded birdies at the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 7th, but dropped shots at the 6th and 9th saw his round the front nine in 33 shots.

On the back nine Stephen recorded another four birdies at 11th, 13th, 14th, and 16th, but a bogey at the 12th saw him home in 32 shots for a 65.

Second best gross was brother Darren Crowe (+2) who went round the front nine in level par 35, birdies at 3rd and 4th were followed by bogies at the 5th and 6th. On the back nine Darren birdied 13th and 14th and had pars at the other seven holes for a 33 and a 68.

The Dunmurry Senior Cup team head to Royal Portrush this Sunday, 17th August to take on Banbridge in the Ulster Senior Cup semi-final, tee-off 8.30 am. The winners will play either Rossapenna or Cairndhu in the afternoon for a place in the All-Ireland finals at Carton House in September.
