Ted Pope was club professional at City of Derry for many years taking over from the late great Fred Daly in the early 1940's before emigrating to New Zealand in 1970 after over 30 years at the club.

Best of the day was the redoubtable Bert Glackin (13), he scored a fine 40 points to finish one ahead of George McKnight (12) who in turn relegated Raymond Taylor (11) to third place again by a one point margin. Incoming Society Skipper Jim Stone (20) took home the first nine prize on 22 points and the second nine went to Jimmy Mohan (12) who also had 22 points.

After the prizegiving the outgoing society secretary Jim Doherty was presented with a beautifully inscribed plaque from the members in recognition of his sterling work for the society over so many years.

Newly installed secretary Eamon McCourt spoke about his plans for the society when it recommences in October and will organise a meeting of all members before then. He concluded the proceedings by thanking Strabane Golf Club and its members for their wonderful hospitality.
