Police investigate after fairway tree chopped down at Killymoon Golf Club

A POLICE investigation is under way at Killymoon Golf Club as they investigate a fallen tree on the 9th fairway.

Golfers are always looking to improve their handicap but this act of vandalism is one step too far.

An ‘amateur lumberjacker’ is said to have chopped the tree down in the middle of the night and left it lying on the middle of the 9th fairway.

The tree plays a major part on the 9th hole. Your drive from the tee can leave you with the obstacle of getting around the tree to make it onto the green.

The club have insisted that the story is no laughing matter and they are replacing the 50 year old silver birch as soon as possible.

“We have no comment to make on the situation other than the matter is now part of a police investigation.”

The replacement of the tree is likely to cost the club £6,000.
