Portstewart holds Burns Supper

Portstewart Golf Club held its first ever Burns Supper recently, supported by a full house the evening was sparkling.

Brian Park, Portpatrick GC, was Master of Ceremonies and he was ably assisted by Alec Ross with the Immortal Memory, Tom McLeod, ‘Holy Willie’s Prayer’ and Hugh Aitkin who addressed the haggis.

The Captain of Portpatrick GC Mike Bryant gave a rousing ‘Toast to the Lassies’ only to suffer grievously at the hands of Anne Morrison-Smyth with her well crafted and merciless reply. Anne has recently presented several BBC television and radio broadcasts, a Kist o Words and Santer for example, and with this experience behind her she adjusted her script well to best the combative Mike.
