RICKY Porter (18) was best of the day in the weekly Thursday Society at Prehen thanks to a superior back nine over Society Treasurer Eddie Mitchell (16), both players returning 39 points.

John Parke (23) was the best of three players on 37 points, the tie break going kindly in his favour.

The top three players all figured in the two’s along with nine other players.

Next week’s competition will honour the memory of Harry Bryson, a stalwart of the Society for many years.

While City of Derry’s end of season prize giving takes place in the Prehen clubhouse, on Sunday, at 7pm sharp.

The following members are asked to attend or nominate a deputy to collect their prize.

Meanwhile the Faughan Valley Captain’s away trip to Portugal was won by Past Captain Cecil King.

Playing three rounds of golf at Laguna, Millennium and Pinhal golf clubs, in glorious conditions, all players enjoyed the climate and tremendous courses, with Cecil proving he can play well on any course and deservedly claimed the title.
