Rally school prize for winner Adam

MODERN Tyre Services on the Castlewellan Road sponsored the competition on Saturday May 12.

The arrangements were in the capable hands of Stephen Shaw, the Promotions Manager, and he came up with some great ideas.

The top prize was very special, a half day Rally Course in a Subaru Impreza at Rally School Ireland in County Monaghan. This is an amazing experience and one, which the winner will never forget.

And the winner was a young man who was over the moon when he heard what he had won.

Adam McGregor (13) from Dromore won with a score of 40 stableford points.

Paul Magee (12) was runner-up, also with 40 points.

John Russell (11) was third with yet another 40 points.

With four holes to play, Paul Magee was in the lead, John Russell was in second pace and Adam McGregor was off the pace in third.

The final four holes on the Banbridge course have decided many a competition and this was a clear example.

John dropped three shots over the last four; Paul dropped four shots while Adam only dropped one shot. That 3,4,4,4 finish hoisted Adam into the winning position. It was that close.

There were fabulous prizes for Paul and John but it was the rallying course that they really wanted.

Cathal O’Neill (11) was fourth with 39 points.

Jim Gracey (12) also had 39 points but he missed out on countback.

Noel McSherry (12) topped the group of 8 players with 38 points each. Noel won the senior’s prize for the second consecutive Saturday. He is in tremendous form and long may it continue.

The others with 38 points were Paul Cochrane (12), Pat McGarry (25), John Doran (13), Noel Cruikshanks (14), Stuart Hunter (4), Neville Kerr (10) and Bertie Shaw (20).

Rory Leonard (+1) won the best gross prize with a level par 69.

It was a brilliant competition and the members would like to thank Modern Tyre Services and especially Stephen Shaw. They came up with something different and it was much appreciated.
