RATHMORE GC WINTER LEAGUE

The six handicapper struck a birdie three at eight to help him to 20 points from the outward nine holes. He followed this with consecutive birds at the long tenth and the short eleventh to add another 16 from the last six holes to win by two clear points from Bradley Hunter on 34. Bradley, playing off five blanked the sixth but picked up birdie threes at eight and nine to put 19 points on the card.

Ten gave up a birdie four and with pars from there in the fifteen points won got Bradley to 34 and with the aid of countback pushed Geoff Magee into third place with the same total. Geoff set the scene for a big total by going one under par at the first and with very few shots being wasted he turned for home with 22 under his belt. His double bogey six at twelve was Geoff’s undoing as it meant just 12 points from the final six and a countback loss.

Fourth place went to Willie McIntyre with a strong 33 points. Two birdies were logged in the opening nine, a three at five and a two at six, and resulted in 21 points. A few shots slipped away over the last six and 12 points were scored. This equalled Willie’s best score in the League and helped him to third in the individual section.

In the team competition it was Team C comprising Des and Andrew McLaughlin, David Wall and Ronnie Porter that won Rathmore’s Winter league on countback on Sunday easing Michael Gaston’s Team H into second place. Michael’s men were Colin Walker, Colm Friel and Willie McIntyre. Fittingly the top three individual scorers came from the top two teams, Colm Friel scoring 155 Andrew McLaughlin 154 and Willie McIntyre 151.

The league was well supported by the members and well sponsored by the Royal Court Hotel, Drains 2 Go, Dent Devils, David Cameron, Complete Window Systems, Castleview Home Maintenance, Bush Training, Bradley Auto Collision, Anvershiel Guesthouse and Club President Eddie Mason.
