Reid breaks the sixty mark as Harry Harper and Agnew Cup continue

With the top twenty and those on the twentieth total those who will be playing in the third round, the scores returned were exceptional with the leading score coming from sixteen handicapper Eugene Reid, who broke the sixty mark with a nett fifty nine.

Eugene opened up with four pars to which he added three bogeys plus pars on the 7th and 8th to be out in three over.

The second nine holes produced six pars plus bogeys on the 14th and 15th and he double bogeyed the 12th for a nine hole total of four over par and the full round resulted in a total of seven over gross, which resulted in a nett figure of that fifty nine. Second place was taken by the present Club Captain Mr David Small who, of an eight handicap, played the course in level par gross for a nett total of sixty and he ousted third nett Jim Munn by virtue of a better second nine.

David scored four pars three bogeys, plus birdies on the 3rd and 9th to be level par going to the tenth tea.

The second nine opened with two pars, a dropped shot on the 12th which he retrieved with a birdie on the 14th and he completed his round with three pars plus a birdie on the last hole for a one under back nine and an overall total of sixty eight shots, less his shot allowance of eight which ended with a nett total of sixty.

Third Nett Jim Munn (17) covered the outward nine holes in two over gross which was made up of four pars, two single bogeys, a double bogey on the 8th, plus birdies on the 2nd and 7th.

The inward nine accounted for eight dropped shots, plus a par on the 10th and a birdie on the 13th which gave him a gross seven, seven less his handicap for a nett sixty. The final nett prize was won by William Owens (20) with a figure of nett 65 having been eight over on the first nine to which he added a nine over on the second nine. That first nine contained four pars, two single bogeys plus three double bogeys which came inside the first four holes while the second nine showed six bogeys, double bogeys on the 14th and 17th with a lone par being scored on the final hole. Nigel Gett (5) returned to the best gross podium when he played the course in seventy shots having had equal nines of thirty five shots. In total Nigel scored twelve pars, and with birdies on the 2nd and 3rd, while he played the six par threes in level par for eighteen shots.
