Representative honours for girls

TWO Lurgan girls have received their first international honours.

Niamh McSherry was representing Ireland, along with Olivia Mehaffey from RCD, at the European Young Masters in Hungary. Unfortunately at the close of play Ireland finished roughly halfway up the table but this was a tremendous honour and experience for Niamh to be involved in.
The Irish Girls International team was also announced and Lurgan’s Niamh Ward has secured her first international cap. Niamh McSherry was also named as a non-travelling reserve. Niamh Ward will represent Ireland at the Girls Home Internationals which will take place at Rydyr Golf Club Wales on August 7-9.

To finish off an exciting week the Ulster under 18 Interprovincial team was also announced and both Niamh Ward and Niamh McSherry are part of the squad with one of the club’s younger members, Annabel Wilson, being named as fourth reserve. The Girls Interprovincial matches will take place at Ballinrobe Golf Club on Wednesday, August 22, and Thursday, August 23.
