Results from Lambeg GC

THIS week’s competition at Lambeg Golf Club was a fourball better ball, organised by the Golfing Union of Ireland.

Each club hold their own competition and the winners go forward to a regional final. This has been organised by the GUI to celebrate their centenary and the winners at Lambeg Golf Club were Bobbie Meehan and Alan Brannigan with 42pts. Runners-up were Club President Brian Bates and Wilbur Lyons with 41pts and third place, also with 41 pts but beaten on the count-back, were Craig Tiffen and Tony Hamilton.

This was a very close fought competition with no less than the top 16 teams finishing within five points of each other.

Next week’s stableford competition is for the PGA Tankard. Sunday begins the first of the G.U.I. Club competitions, the Ulster fourball. Lambeg G.C. play Dunmurry G.C. in the first leg, tee-off 1pm.
