Rockmount’s Irish Mixed team reach Ulster quarters

Rockmount Golf Club’s Irish Mixed Foursomes team, captained by Peter O’Hara and Janet Douds, reached the Ulster quarter-finals after a hard fought victory over Greencastle at Moyola Park on 25th June.

Chris Morrison & Patricia McDonnell combined well and won their match five and four.

Eddie Donaldson & Jan Lindsay were two down with six holes to go and managed to turn their match around to secure victory on the last green.

Ryan Wilson & Rosie McCrea had a ding dong battle all the way round and found themselves two down with four holes to play.

They ended up winning on the 19th hole to give Rockmount the match.

Ronnie Cole & Diane Patterson also had a tough match on their hands and were all square on the last when their match was called in.

The last match was Jimmy Robinson and Sue McDonagh who after fighting hard lost two and one.

Rockmount now play Cavan in the quarter-finals. (venue to be decided)

ROSSMORE CUP

There was more good news for club as their Rossmore Cup team, captained by Michael Harrison, secured victory over Kilkeel Golf Club in the second leg match on Sunday 28th June.

They had secured a 4-0 win at Rockmount the week before and soon closed out the match in the away leg.

Reece Wilson and Neil Gowdy managed to get to dormie four up and thus get the half point required for victory.
