Ryan airs his talents to win sweep

He had double bogey, bogey, bogey start so his 17 points for the opening seven holes of the shortened winter layout was very creditable. His one over par last eight was even more so. Ryan did drop a couple of shots but his birdie four at seventeen took care of one of them and gave him four points into the bargain. 21 back and 38 total for fifteen holes proved to be one better than runner up Davy Cameron on 37.

Davy got away to a better start with a couple of pars and scored no double bogies on his way to 18 points for the seven holes. His double bogey came with a nasty six at twelve but he hit straight back with a good birdie three at thirteen for four points. Another bird and another four points was struck at seventeen and if Davy could have scored at the last, well, who knows?

The top two were well clear of the rest; in the Low Section John Ferris, playing off five, took the honours with a score of 33 points. John’s front seven was a mix of one and three pointers with an ugly blank at three giving him 14 points out. He eliminated the single pointers and blanks on the inward nine knocking in a birdie two fourteen to help himself to a further 19.

High Section leader was fourteen handicap Ronnie Moore with 34 points to his credit. Two no scores in the first seven restricted his points tally out to 13 points but he came to life in the back nine with two twos and a birdie four at seventeen to boost his score to 34 points

I could just repeat last week’s paragraph for the best gross and top senior as the same pair did it again. Gross first, with David Turner scoring 29 points gross. His birdie three at the sixth would have left him under par for the opening seven but for the ugly eight carded at the long fifth. Even with this blip 13 points were gathered. Steady scoring on the back nine with the seventeenth being birdied gave David 16 points and consolidated his win in the gross category.

No points after one was not what Roy Deans wanted but he gathered himself together to get 13 points from the front seven. The par five tenth gave him four points for his birdie four and Roy scored nothing less than two points at any of the remaining holes gathering 20 points in the process and signing for 33 to get his prize.
