Sean has best score of the day

It was the second week of the Winter League at Silverwood on Saturday and the course was playing pretty tough with overnight rain and heavy showers during the day.

The winner of the low section with the best score of the day was Sean McStay (inset) with 42 points.

Sean had a one over gross 73 with 20 points on his front nine which included two birdies at the 1st and 4th holes, one double bogey at the 3rd hole, one single bogey at the 7th and five pars. His back nine had another two birdies at the 12th and 18th, two single bogeys at the 10th and 16th and five pars to win by one point.

In second place was Conor McGleenon with 41 points, he had 19 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 1st, three pars at the 2nd 4th and 9th and five bogeys. His back nine of 22 points contained two birdies at the 14th and 18th, four pars at the 10th 12th 13th and 15th and three bogeys.

Third was Colm Doyle with 39 points, he had 21 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 7th and five pars and his back nine of 18 points also had one birdie at the 15th along with four pars.

The gross prize was won yet again by Patrick Jordan this time with a one over par 73. He had a front nine 34 with two birdies at the 7th and 9th, one bogey at the 4th and six pars.

His back nine of 39 had one birdie at the 18th, five pars at the 10th 11th 12th 13th and 17th holes, and three bogeys to maintain his good run of form.

In the middle section first place went to Joe O’Hanlon with 41 points, he had 23 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 9th, five pars at the 3rd 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th holes and three bogeys. His back nine of 18 points had one birdie at the 14th, two pars at the 12th and 15th holes and a mixture of single and double bogeys.

In second place was Sean Lappin with 40 points. Sean had 22 points on his front nine with two birdies at the 4th and 7th holes, three pars at the 2nd 3rd and 6th and four bogeys. His back nine had four pars at the 10th, 11th 13th and 15th holes one no-score and four bogeys.

Third spot was claimed by Paul Hamill with 39 points, he had 20 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 4th and two pars at the 1st and 7th holes and a back nine of 19 points that contained three pars at the 13th 14th and 18th holes.

In the high section first place went to Thomas Marley with 38 points. Thomas had 19 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 2nd hole and three pars and 19 points on his back nine that included three pars at the 10th 14th and 15th holes.

Second was David Mills with 37 points, he had 20 points on his front nine with three pars at the 2nd 4th and 8th holes and a back nine of 17 points with one par, six bogeys and three double bogeys on his card.

In third place was John McConville with 36 points, he had 19 points on his front nine and 17 points on his back nine.

The senior prize was picked up by David Gilmore with 37 points

The junior winner was Jack Doyle with 34 points.
