Shane and Paddy win memorial

Both players teed off and then the best drive was selected and play continued from there. The top 16 pairs qualified and then go through to the matchplay stage of the event.

They were first Shane O’Hanlon and Paddy O’Hagan with 44 points. Shane and Paddy shot some fantastic golf to win by three clear shots in this quite difficult format that doesn’t really let players get into the swing of their game.

Sometimes you don’t get a putt for a few holes or get to play a shot into a green because you have the best drive.

Second spot went to Sean Magill and Jonathan McGahey with 41 points. In third was Kenny Gracey and Daniel Downey with 41 points.

Fifth: Lyle Hamilton and David Allen with 40 points.

Sixth: Glen McMillen and Bill White with 39 points.

Seventh: David Erwin and Lee McClintock with 38 points.

Eigth Sam Quigley and Kenny Logan with 37 points.

Ninth: Colin Whan and Jackie Gilliland with 37 points.

Tenth: Paul Magill and Phillip Tinsley with 37 points.

Eleventh: Alistair Simpson and Aurthur Wenlock with 37 points.

Twelfth: Deaglan O’Hagan and Brian O’Hagan with 37 points.

Thirteenth: Dominic Downey and Brian Robinson with 37 points.

Fourteenth: Phillip Henderson and Andrew Henderson with 37 points.

Fifteenth: James Scott and Tony Connolly with 37 points.

Sixteenth: Bryn Swift and Andy Bennett with 36 points.

The Monday seniors had a runaway winner in Alistair Simpson who was five points clear on 40 points.

Bill Henderson was leader of the chasers on 35 points. Gilbert Sinclair and Stuart Cameron took third and fourth with 34 and 33 points respectively.

In the Wednesday Monthly Medal Lee McClintock was four strokes clear with an excellent nett 67 playing off his 20 handicap.

Martin Delport came in second with a very tidy nett 71. Malcolm Powell was on par also with his nett 71 and taking third spot by virtue of a weaker back nine.

Martin Wright was just a shot behind on a nett 72. Stuart Cameron and Alan Clinghan were a further shot behind on nett 73.
