The members of the society were pleased again with the great support which they received at their six competitions, especially the Open Competition in June, as they met to raise money for the Livingstone Schools in Zimbabwe – the schools for which the late Warwick Smart encouraged financial support.

The members are now turning their attention to organising a Big Band Night, which is being held in the Joey Dunlop Centre at 7,30pm on Friday 25th October. They hope that this night will receive good support and tickets are now on sale at a cost of only £5. It is advisable to purchase tickets beforehand as numbers are limited. Tickets are available from Rachael’s Skin Care Clinic, Castlecroft, Ballymoney, or by contacting either David on 07980004284, Alastair on 07711243555 or George on 07715112554.

The Limavady Big Band brings an unforgettable swing experience! The musicians play the music of the bands from the 40s and 50s such as Glenn Millar, Count Basie, Benny Goodman right up to big band arrangements of Van Morrison’s hits as well as many other contemporary pieces. The band draws its personnel from Limavady and the greater north coast area and includes a wide range of age groups. It is the first time the band has played in Ballymoney for many years.

Yasmin Walker will also be coming home from her music studies at Aberdeen University to contribute to the evening with her own unique voice and style. Yasmin is also well known throughout the area having performed at a variety of venues since she was in her early teens. The evening will be compered by Ken McCaughey and promises to be a memorable.
