Spectacular finish at Lisburn GC

THERE was a spectacular finish to one fourball match at Lisburn last Saturday in the EMO Winter League. David Gardiner’s tee shot at the 18th landed short of the green and ran towards the flag finishing two feet away. He was followed by John Boyd who hit a three iron shot straight at the flag. The ball lipped out and finished one foot from the hole. Both putts were holed for birdie twos. Unfortunately they had not played well in the earlier parts of their round to make the prize list.

Ten out of the one hundred competitors had birdie twos, five at the 13th and five at 18.

It was a cold start for the early starters but the sun broke through to make it very pleasant afternoon. As anticipated the course was very damp after heavy rain but there were many good scores on the back nine despite competitors playing off three quarters of their official handicap.
