Spring League last fouridentified

An excellent entry of 47 pairs turned out at Foyle last week to compete for the 32 places on offer in the match play competition which will decide who will become the PFS Accountants Club Pairs Champions for 2014.

The leading qualifiers prize was decided after a three way 43 points break of tie decision went in favor of John Duffy and Gary Kennedy, with the qualifying cut of coming at 36 points one very unfortunate pair missed out after a five way break of tie decision.

The first qualifying competition of the season which also counted for Golfer of the Year points, saw Scott Kennedy (4) making full use of the favorable conditions when he scored 41 points to win, with a three way 40 points break of tie decision needed the fill the minor places on the rostrum.

The Over 50’s Confined competition went to John Logue (15) after he scored 39 points and second place at a BOT finish went to Nat Roche (27) after he scored 38 points.

The semi-final line up has been identified in the Pitchers Spring League at Foyle.

The last four draw is as follows: Team 8 - Mark Doherty, Ciaran O’Doherty, John Jennings and Dermott Harkin play Team 2 - John McDowell, Paddy Coyle, Damien Martin and Kevin Dunn.

Team 6 - Paddy McCafferty, Finbar Logue, Chris Lynch and Joe Lynch play Team 5 - David Knox, Stuart Gauld, David Knox Jun and Paul McLaughlin. All matches must be played by this Sunday and from today (Wednesday) until Sunday the Qualifying Singles takes centre stage.

Captain Chris Lynch extends deepest sympathy from everyone at Foyle to fellow club members James O’Carroll on the recent death of his sister and Frank McGuigan on the recent death of his brother.
