Still all to play for at Foyle

With the sixth card returned in The Desmond Motors Winter League at Foyle, Team 11 of Ciaran Gillen, Ryan Gillen, Caolan McLaughlin and Scott Kennedy having returned the best score in the league so far 101 points for an accumulated total of 563 points.

They now have an eleven point lead over the chasing pack and with four cards to return and the teams now having to drop their lowest scores it is still not possible to indentify the eighth teams that will reach the final.

Currently in second spot is Team 25 of John Jennings, Mar Doherty, Jim McFadden and Dermott Harkin who have scored 552 points, Team 20 of Kieran Bradley, Martin Loughrey, Brendan Barr and Jay Lucas with 543 points are in third spot at the minute.

Another excellent turnout for the Foyle Sunday Society were again blessed with a fine day for their seventh outing of the season and once again the ever consistent Martin Loughrey (11) took top honours for the third time this season with a fine score of 41 points.

Loughrey was one point clear of Neal Cooke (12) in second on 40 points with a multible break of tie needed to indentify third place with Paul McGuigan (3) getting the verdict with 39 points

The Juvenile Competition went to David Knox (Jun) (19) after he scored 43 points and Lawerance Powell (9) with 38 points was third.

Sunday Society Christmas Hamper will take place on Sunday, December 11 and all members taking part are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop ASAP in order to facilitate tee times.

The turkey competitions were won by Matt Donnell, Jay Lucas, Ruari O’Connor, Sean Sands, Steven O’Connor and Martin Gallagher.

Foyle Golf Club Christmas Hamper Competition will take place on Sunday, December 4 and all members taking part are asked to enter their names on the sheet provided in the shop on or before Monday, November 28, when the draw for playing partners will take place.

The Desmond Motors Winter League continues daily as does the Turkey Competitions, while the Sunday Society continues this weekend and members are reminded to book their own tee times.
