Team 18’s lead slightly cut

WITH card eight returned in the Pitchers sponsored Spring League at Foyle, Team 18 of Martin McEleney, Peter Roddy, Darren Coyle and Sean McEleney still top the leader board with an accummulated score of 614 points.

However their lead has been cut to a slender three points by Team 1 of Ciaran O’Doherty, Ciaran Gillen, Ryan Gillen and Coalan McLaughlin. In third spot at the minute is Team 13 of James Logue, Seamus Logue, Pady McCafferty and Finbar Logue who have scored 603 points.

With two cards to play and the lowest scores being dropped the eight Qualifying teams to contest the match play are still far from being decided.

While the Pitchers sponsored St Patricks Day Open Stableford at Foyle had an excellent entry for the first Open of the 2011 season with close on a 100 competitors taking to the Ballyarnett fairways where they enjoyed decent weather on a course in fine condition.

Ryan Kerr (19) made full use of the favourable conditions to return an excellent winning score of 42 points, second after a break of tie finish was Damien Kivelehan (11) after he scored 37 points and Kieran Bradley (13) also with 37 points was third after a BOT finish.

The gross winner was Stephen Martin after he scored 33 points, Noel Kiernan from Otway (18) scored 30 points to claim the visitors prize and Thomas Duddy (11) with 22 points won the back nine.

The Easter Egg Competitions were won by Peter Tinney and Tony Griffiths.

Foyle Golf Club Members are reminded that G.U.I and club fees are now due and must be payed on or before Friday, April 1st, to enable members to play for prizes in club competitions, optinal insurance is also due and must be payed by April 1st.

This Saturday sees the Easter Hamper up for grabs, the Pitchers Restaurant sponsored Spring League continues daily, until this Sunday, while the Easter Egg competitions also continue daily.
