Team 7 lead the way at Foyle CG

With the second cards counted in the Desmond Motors Winter League at Foyle, Team 7 of Kieran Bradley, Martin Loughrey, Stevie Moore and Joe Bradley having returned another fine score of 92 points for an accumulated 186 points total, now hold a two point advantage over Team 1, with the chasing pack in close pursuit.

Week three of the Foyle Sunday Society again saw a fine turnout with some excellent scores returned which was topped by Mark McCloskey (20) with his winning score of 43 points followed closely by Martin Loughrey (12) and John McDowell (14) respectively with 41 points after a break of tie.

The Turkey competitions were claimed by David Hasson, Bill McChrystal, Declan Hutton and Leo Young.

The Desmond Motors Winter League and Turkey competitions continues daily, on Saturday the return leg of the Two Bridges Cup tees off at 11.30am at Faughan Valley, while on Sunday the Society competition takes place and new members will be made welcome and book your own tee time.

While at City of Derry, the Chambers Concrete sponsored Team Classic that started on Sunday was abandoned when only a few holes had been played after a torrential downpour made further play impossible. After consultation with the sponsors a draw was made to decide the winners and the team of Graham Hepburn, Vincent Devenney, Brian Burns and David Spence were first out of the hat. Second place went to the club’s vice captain Bob McKimm, Rory O’Hare, Noel O’Donnell and Cormac McKeone. Third out were Trevor Heywood, Conrad Smyth and Ian Jarvis.

Ronan Coyle (11) played a superb round of golf in less than perfect conditions at Prehen on Saturday to take first place in the weekly stableford scoring 41 points.

Stuart McClelland (9) finished in second place with a commendable 39 points and Darren Heaney (11) on 38 points was third. While Robin McClay (15) with 41 points won the Harry Bryson Trophy last Thursday, at Prehen.
