The final will be played on John Parkes’ President’s Day on Saturday 7th September.

The results of two of these quarterfinals have just come to hand.

Kevin McKay and Brian Grimes, one down with two to play, beat Tom Fee and Sydney Pepper 1 up; Andrew Quinn and Barry Casey beat the pre-tournament favourites, Joe Glass and Joe Thompson, by 3 and 2.

That leaves only 6 pairings. It’s getting very exciting.

DERMOT MAGEE WON THE CAPTAIN’S PRIZE IN 1996.

Cathal McAnarney won Declan Dooher’s Captain’s Prize in fine style a few weeks ago.

Cathal was credited with being the first man from Ballela to win the Captain’s Prize. That is not correct.

Dermot Magee won Elmer Armstrong’s Captain’s Prize back in 1996 and he was a Ballela man.

We should have checked the record books a little more carefully and the mistake is regretted.
