Thomas is theEaster Cup winner

The winner with 41 points was Thomas Farren.

Thomas had 21 points on his front nine with two birdies, one par and five bogeys and one double bogey. His back nine of 20 points was made up of two double bogeys, three single bogeys,four pars which included the last three holes for a strong finish and was good enough to see Thomas win this competition.

In second place with 39 points was Kieran Murray he had an up and down round of golf with a no score at the first hole followed by a bogey at the 2nd hole, he then went one under for the remaining holes with a birdie and six pars.

His back nine once again included a no score at the 11th hole, but again he rallied and recorded two birdies and six pars for his total of 39 points.

In third place was Keith Totton again with 39 points, he had 20 points on the front nine which contained four pars, four bogeys and one double bogey. His back nine included four pars, four bogeys and one no score at the 10th hole.

The gross prize was a close affair between Fintan McAreavey and Kevin Munster with Fintan just edging it with a two over gross. Fintan went round the front nine in one over par with one bogey at the 5th hole and eight pars, his back nine contained two birdies at the 15th and 17th holes, four bogeys and three pars, for another steady round of golf.

Fourth prize was collected by James Scullion with 39 points, he had 20 points on his front nine with one birdie at the 7thhole, four pars ,two bogeys and two double bogeys, his back nine of 19 points contained one birdie at the 17th hole, four pars , one bogey and three double bogeys.

Fifth was Leonard McCann continuing his recent good form with 38 points he had 20 points on his front nine with the highlight being a birdie two at the 6th. His back nine of 18 points contained six pars two bogeys and one no score.

The senior prize was picked up by John Clarke with 36 points.

The junior prize was won by Caolan Reynolds.

Sections prizes: 0-12 Eugene McKeever 37 pts; 13- 18 Bernard McKeever 37 pts; 19-28 Joseph Toland 35 pts.

On the seniors front they commenced their 10 match league programme two weeks ago at Lisburn and finished a very creditable fourth place just two points behind the joint leaders, the best pairing of the day were Seamus Patton and Neil Walker with 44 points a score which was unequalled by any other of the competing teams, unfortunately their second weeks outing at Mourne was not as successful as it felt like the “after the lord mayor’s show” and the golf was not able to match the superb days weather. The teams total was the worst of all the club’s scores and Silverwood has come tumbling down the table, however the team is not despairing as they are only 11 points behind second place, and feel there is all to play for. Best for the local side were the Sean O’Neill and John Clarke pairing with 37 points.
