David Jones who started his golfing career at Prehen set a new course record on Sunday carding a superb seven under par 64. The best team over the two days was led home by their professional Paul Masterton and featured George Pearson, Gary Leckey and Wyn Donnell. They scored 187 points to win by four clear points.

While sixteen points after nine holes didn’t do Brian Mulgrew’s (22) confidence much good at Prehen in the weekly Thursday Open but a remarkable record breaking 27 points on the back nine set up his great 43 points winning total.

On an absolutely immaculately prepared course Brian was only two over par gross on his fabulous second nine that started with a fine birdie three for four points.

Stephen Orr (13) took second place courtesy of a tie break with a finely compiled 41 points, a score that was matched by third placed Ronan Coyle (12) who must surely be very soon back in single figures if his recent returns are to continue.
