Low handicap winners were Gary Addley (nett 67), Jim Bruce (nett 67), Sam McAllister (nett 68) and Tommy Haggan (nett 68).

High handicap winners were Roy Bennett (nett 68), D. Vance (nett 68), A. Stranaghan (nett 69), and Lindsay McBride (nett 69).

George Armstrong won the Gross Prize with a score of 72, and George Watson the Super Seniors Prize with 37 points.

In the Holt Shield quarter-final, Carrickfergus went to Whitehead with a slender 3-2 lead, but a 3-2 win ensured that the North Road men now progress to meet Fortwilliam in the last four.

At the Northern Ireland Open, Whitehead’s John-Ross Galbraith missed the cut.

Galbraith was one of a trio of Irish amateurs to compete at Galgorm.

He followed an opening-round 75 with 68 on day two, but he failed to claim a weekend place.

The former Carrickfergus College pupil recently won the North of Ireland Amateur Championship at Portrush.

Clément Sordet sealed a first professional victory in just his fourth start in the paid ranks at the event.

The 22-year-old closed with a final round 66 for a 17-under-par 267 winning aggregate to win by one from American John Hahn (66) .

Sordet started the day two shots behind overnight leaders, Spain’s Emilio Cuartero Blanco and Ireland’s Niall Turner, but kept his composure to land the €27,200 first prize.
