Total Golf manager wins at Foyle GC

The first of the season’s Foyle Friday Open Stableford Competitions attracted a very good entry and the competitors made full use of the favorable conditions with some excellent scores returned.

Coming home in first place was Total Golf Manager Gareth Kelly, the Greencastle 13 handicapper compiled an excellent 46 points winning score.

Second spot went to Gerald Toland (20) who scored 44 points, second was Declan Hutton (20) with 43 points and the visitor’s prize went to North West member Steven Gallagher (7) who scored 39 points.

Paul McCahill returned a fine score of 40 points to secure the leading qualifiers spot in the Fred Daly Memorial Trophy Qualifier albeit aftert a break of tie decision which was decided on the last three holes over John Logue and will represent the Club in the Final at Lisburn Golf Club Friday, September 5th.

Foyle have had an excellent start to the 2014 G.U.I. Inter Club Competitions with the Jimmy Bruen Team qualifying in second place at Ballybofey where they will return to play Narin & Portnoo in the first round of the match play

The Ulster Fourball team had a comfortably 7-3 win against Ormeau in the first round of the competition and will play Shandon in round two.

The Fred Daly team have had a blistering start to this years competition, last year beaten Semi - Finalists eased into round two with an emphatic 11-3 win over Carrickfergus.

While this week’s competition gets underway today (Wednesday) with the Holmpatrick Cup Qualifier, while an open stableford tournament takes centre stage on Friday. Saturday sees the Spring Trophy sponsored by AON Insurance take place and the Lombard Qualifier will be played on Sunday.

The Crumley Consruction Monthly Medal competition on Wednesday was claimed by Caolan Dunn. Sunday’s competition saw Kieran Duffy (9) with nett 68 claim the category 0-11, Harry Lafferty (14) with nett 64 win the category 12-17 and Gerald Toland (18) with nett 68 win the category 18+.
